Number sudoku: explained simply
Fill the number grid so that each allowed number appears exactly once in every row, column and outlined box.
How to work it out
- A 4 × 4 sudoku uses 1 to 4 and 2 × 2 boxes. A 6 × 6 sudoku uses 1 to 6 and 2 × 3 boxes.
- For each empty cell, check its row, column and box together. Enter a number only when it is certain.
An example, step by step
A row in a 4 × 4 sudoku contains 1, □, 3, 4.
- The allowed numbers are 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Only 2 is missing from this row.
- Check that 2 is not already in the column or box, then enter it.
Understand other variations
Several gaps
Consider the possible numbers. A number can also be certain because only one cell in a row, column or box can still contain it.
Your turn
