Calendar: explained simply
A monthly calendar matches each date to a weekday. Read dates, fill missing dates or find time gaps.
How to work it out
- Read the weekday from the column heading. One row further down in the same weekday column means 7 days later.
- For “in three days”, move three days forward. The starting day is not the first elapsed day.
An example, step by step
The 8th of a month is a Tuesday. What weekday is the 15th?
- Find the gap: 15 − 8 = 7 days.
- 7 days is exactly one week.
- The weekday stays the same. The 15th is also a Tuesday.
Understand other variations
Count days and fill gaps
To count Mondays, follow the Monday column and count only dates belonging to this month. Fill missing dates with +1 within a week or +7 down the same column.
Your turn
Today is the 12th. What date is three days later, still in the same month?
Show the answer and method
The 15th: the 13th is one day later, the 14th two days later, and the 15th three days later.
