- Choose the number of tasks and the difficulty yourself
- With an answer sheet and, if you like, a QR code to the answers
- At three levels (★ to ★★★) and as group A and B
- As a single worksheet or as a task on a mixed worksheet
Dice patterns: explained simply
Recognise the dots on a die. If several dice are shown, add their values together.
How to work it out
- Each dot counts as 1. Familiar dice patterns can be recognised as a whole amount.
- With two or three dice, add the dots on all the dice shown.
An example, step by step
One die shows 5 and another shows 3.
- Recognise 5 as four corner dots and one in the centre.
- The second die shows 3.
- Altogether: 5 + 3 = 8 dots.
Your turn
Three dice show 2, 4 and 3. How many dots are there altogether?
Show the answer and method
2 + 4 + 3 = 9 dots.
